My husband and I decided to teach G how to play Monopoly the other day. She happens to be a very fast learner, and whenever we play, she asks us if she can join in. We figured a game like Monopoly would also be a fun way to improve her math skills. I imagine it may improve her bargaining skills as well. Not that she really needs any help in that department. She bargains daily as it is – “If you buy me that toy, I promise I will behave.” Sound familiar?
It all worked out great. B took a longer than usual nap, and the game wasn’t too long (as far as Monopoly games go). The reason this game was shorter than most? Well, she played that game like she has been playing it for years. We looked like a couple of rookies. We know she’s a fast learner and all, but my goodness, we never even stood a chance!
She never ceases to amaze me. I had actually advised her not to do a trade that her dad offered her. As usual, she ignored mommy completely. You can probably tell from the image, she certainly didn’t need any advice!
I am happy that she won her first ever game of Monopoly. I’m even happier that daddy was out of the game first, hehehe. She went on to defeat him in a game of checkers, and me at a game of Candyland. There was no letting her win either. She’s too smart to fall for that, she would be able to tell. The victories were truly hers.
I don’t mind that I was was beaten by a seven year old though. She is my daughter after all. 😉
